The Iceni Parliament is structured much like the UK government.

It is led by the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister, who are elected from the Year 11 student prefect body each year. Their role is to lead Parliament meetings and work with the Senior Leadership Team to affect change in the academy.

The Prime and Deputy Prime Ministers are supported by a range of portfolio-holding Ministers, who are all Year 11 prefects and apply for the positions on offer. Our portfolios are:

  • Minister for Charity
  • Minister for Sport and Enrichment
  • Minister for Environment
  • Minister for Equalities
  • Minister for Student Welfare and Wellbeing

Each form group has an elected Member of Parliament, who attends Parliament meetings in order to present the views of their constituents (form group).

Our most recent meeting was held in February, and the agenda included:

  • Rewards: what would students like to see in terms of rewards? This could be physically or in terms of events/ celebrations
  • Fundraising ideas: what charities would students like to see us support? What ideas do they have for fundraising?
  • Clubs and fixtures: what clubs and fixtures would students like to see taking place in school?
