Mr Liao joined our team from the Norwich school to teach Mandarin lessons to year 7. They have really enjoyed their first term and are getting to grips with the characters. Mr Liao will be launching a lunchtime club in the New Year, which will be open to all year groups. This is a great opportunity for students to come along and learn Mandarin.

The term started in September with our first European Day of Languages, where we saw Year 7 make a fantastic effort dressing up. We also had some incredible entries for the Iceni European Bake Off competition, these included Dutch butter biscuits, Eton mess (Eat ‘n’ Mess), Crepe cake and a Black Forest Gateau.

As you will read on this website we will be in Germany enjoying the Christmas Market Trip in Aachen. The students have been looking forward to practicing their German and trying some of the delicious delicacies at the market. A great start to the Christmas holidays!

Ms Agoudjil is looking forward to her day trip in March next year to Bolougne, France. That looks like it will be another opportunity to put those classroom skills to the test.

A big thank you to Ms Agoudjil for organizing another successful languages day with Year 8. The students had the opportunity to get creative in the kitchen and learn to speak some Polish and Spanish.

We also had the chance to welcome four students from Vigo in Spain, who were studying at the Bury Language School. They shadowed some year 10 students and really did immerse themselves into school life here, practicing their English. Should you be interested in hosting international students, please visit: www.burylanguageschool.co.uk/

Year 11 are working hard to prepare for their exams in the summer. They had the chance to test their skills in their new speaking exam as part of their mock and did pretty well for their first attempt. There are regular revision classes for both French and German, so please get in touch for further details.
